Well, TFL is sixty years before M2, and everyone at the Great Devoid died.
Also, consider the Journal - the TFL writer buried it, but was going to recover it if everyhting was ok. He didn't, but Soulblighter did, and it found its way into Baron Kildaer's library, and was handed to M2 Journal Wirter - he didn't recognise it, and thoguht The Head was good!
So, not the same person.
M3's Journeyman says that his writing takes place about 100 years after the War with Soulblighter, so I'm pretty sure the M2 narrator would either be a Heron or dead.
I think the JMan is just used because they're so damn cool. ;)
