At the end of m3, as Olorin said, we understand that connacht doesnt know about the whereabouts of the head because he ordered it so.
At tfl, when he returned, Balor resurrected soulblýghter to tell him where the artifacts were. The head wasnt found because ýt was somehow found and bruýed to somewhere else.Later, when head came, he whispered the nine the weak points of the fallen because these guys killed them 1000 years ago!!
Consequently, when he saw that his former opponents were slain one by one,he created a civil war to take the control of the legion because hes the great and true leveler for christ sakes!!! You wouldnt just expect him to be good hero !!!
