Also consider how the following units would do in these conditions:

Berserks, in Bragrada (brrrr!)

Warriors/herons inside of tharsis...it must be like an oven

Dwarves in ANY waterland

Warriors going through water-doesnt it bog down their armor?

Warriors in the desert/herons in the desert

and there are probably so many more than I can't think of.

And journeymen carried a limited number of Mandrake roots. These may be in abundance in swampy areas, but I doubt that the few living journeymen travelling with the legion could do anything about it.

Perhaps some sort of mass enchantment by a sorcerer...though you'd think they would save their powers for a battle...
