Alright, I must put a stop to this at once...

fir'Bolg names are as follows lower case beginning (ou) followed by an apostrophe (') followed by upper case ending (Kahn)... put it together and you get ou'Kahn. All fir'Bolg names follow this format, even the bre'Unor since that is the fir'Bolg name for them and not their true race name. There also seems to be a secondary extension in terms of locations, for example ai'Kijin-Tak has the -Tak ending added to it. Whether this designates a location or status I am not sure, but it does provide a better definition than a strict name.

Trow use a similar but opposite technique. Upper case beginning (Si), apostrophe ('), and lastly a lower case ending (anwon). So that makes up Si'anwon. Another example of this is found in the Myth map, where it labels Rhi'anon. (Of course Forrest has it listed as Rhi'Anon in the Legend's Encyclopedia, but he can't always be right, now can he.) The basic Trow names follow a different format, but why they do this I am not sure.

bre'Unor names follow a slightly different technique. Upper case beginning and ending seperated by a hyphen (-). So an example is Hajak-Tak.

The Journeyman and Heron Guard use their initiation date as their name. As bungie gave us during the Seven Phoenix Rising tournament, there is a strict formula for these names. Note: Not all Journeymen and Heron Guard names follow this outline, so bungie did not make it very strict or did not follow their own rules.

The remaining races all have rather simple name basics. For more in depth coverage of name entomologies, check out The Legend's Encyclopedia at: http://myth.bungie.org/legends/encyclopedia/who.shtml. Hope that helps in letting you determine which race a character is according to how their name is formulated.

Sincerely,
Pimpyō
