Not really. In MWA, the Smiths didn't 'build' Muirthemne (or Llancarfan), they just had a shop there. I can't remember off-hand where the name [Muirthemne] comes from.
The Smiths broke into the spider temple and defeated the Spider God(dess), Syrkrosh, trapping her spirit inside the Tain. Then, in order to keep her from escaping, they trapped themselves within the Tain.
Connacht, impressed with their courage and sacrifice, renamed Llancarfan to Muirthemne to sort of memorialize the Smiths for presumably saving the city, or the world, from a terrible evil.
