: Nut if you're interested in this because you want to know
: whether Balor was one of the six powerful sorcerers,
: then no, he was not. The two Lords we don't see in the
: game (from pregame info--see
: were known as the Voiceless One and the Faceless Man,
: neither of which really fits Balor. And the other four
: Lords are already accounted for. So it seems that
: Balor would be counted as a seventh.

That was actually Bonesplitter and the Faceless Man. Here's a theory I just came up with:
Balor is Bonesplitter. No real reason for the name, though I'm sure Balor has done plenty of splitting of bones during his time. Given that of the other Fallen, only the Deceiver's name seems to have relevance to his powers, I think it's a safe omission to make. Bonesplitter is one of the guys "turned from the Light", and we all know about how Connacht became Balor.

Why Bonesplitter and not The Faceless Man? I'm willing to wager that The Faceless Man is the second guy behind Connacht in the comic (do you see a face there? Me neither. Sure looks like there ought to be one though) Furthermore, there is evidence to support The Faceless Man being The Head. Think about it. The Head claimed to be an avatara under Connacht. There he is in the picture, Connacht's right-hand man. That hood sort of looks like Alric's too, which also supports that he's an avatara. Perhaps there is a falling out between them when Connacht becomes Balor, or perhaps it's all according to plan, but the Faceless Man has his head cut off and gets stuck in Muirthemne to be 'discovered' by the good guys. Maybe it wasn't cut off, maybe the head and body can function independantly, maybe the body happens not to be 'wearing' the head in the picture of Connacht and friends. That isn't necessarily an evil power, it could have been the unique (if rather bizarre) power of that avatara. However, the body was later destroyed: perhaps when Balor turned the avatara to the side of evil, he resisted at first and had his body destroyed. Balor finally gets control of what's left, the head, and turns it to the dark. He either leaves it in the desert or the Head agress of its own free will to be put there and the rest is history...
