Perhaps Shiver was blinded by her vanity, and Rabican destroyed her illusions and showed her what she really looked like, causing her to frezze with horror.
Or maybe he used her vanity so that she forgot about the Dream Duel and simply gazed at herself, oblivious to Rabican - like Narcissus.
Though I doubt there's a Shiver flower. ;)
