N.B. I started to write this before zeph and Olorin's responses came into my mailbox. However, I had to go to a class before I could finish it. I'm posting it anyway since there's a bit more information.
: Okay, here goes. I'm a writer, and I've liked to play the
: 3 Myth games a lot. So I decided that I was going to
: try and write a story on it.
Cool, be sure to send it to me by email when you're done so I can post it to the site.
: My story will mostly be set right after Myth 1, a few
: days after the scant survivors of the Legion toss
: Balor's head down the Great Devoid. So to make the
: world richer, I'm going to go with the Cannon
: established here and in the games. However, I'd like
: to ask some questions and I'd really like any insight
: anyone here has on them. ^^
Okay, I'll give it a shot.
: 1) How big in men do you think the Army of the Nine was
: and how many do you think are still alive?
Well, in the Journal entry for the Great Devoid, it states that there are fewer than 30 survivors. During the assault on Rhi'anon, there are 2,300 men remaining. Of which 2,200 are sacrificed before the fortress. Presumably 70 or more of the remainder die during the assault on Balor himself.
In contrast, we are given the figure of 20,000 men in the vanguard of the legion on the level Otter Ferry.
So the army has effectively been decimated between then and just before the Last Battle.
: 2) Do the Fallen Lords which remain possess large forces
: still?
Doubtful since we are told in the Myth 2 level, Through the Ermine:
"After the Great War, the armies of the Dark collapsed and the Fallen Lords were swallowed up by history. We believed we had entered a golden age, a new era of peace, and our armies laid down their weapons to begin the long task of rebuilding the world."
: 3) Do you think there were many people left in the West
: after Balor dies?
There must have been some bastions of the population as otherwise it would have taken Alric far longer than 60 years to return the Province to its former glory. This period is only long enough for two or maybe 3 generations so there must have been quite a few families of peasants and noblemen remaining.
: 4) Do you think Alric is the only surviving member of The
: Nine just after Balor dies?
I actually think he is as of the three that were left after Sons of Myrgard, I'd say two were sent to hold off Balor's forces at the fortress to provided some backup magic.
: 5) The Nine were definitely the strongest Avatara the
: Light had. But do you think there are lesser Avatara?
Avatara=Nine like zeph said. There were some wizards though as stated in Shadow of the Mountain. I'd suggest these are separate from the Avatara as they are not capitalised.
: Thank you!
No problem
