Most of my post was angry sarcasm. I was pointing out how things could be much worse than they are today.
Of all the countries/nations/cities/towns in the world, the U.S. has seen some of the least fighting on our lands. We, like most people, would much rather war happened somewhere else. We're just a bit more proactive about it because we can be. With history as our guide, it's easy to see that stamping out a problem before it grows is much better in the long run. Our "problem" is that we generally have to vote on whether or not there is a "problem". Sometimes a dictatorship has its pluses. :)
