: In retrospect, now see how the United States is not so
: authoritarian, not so ridgid or irrational, even
: compared to our seemingly kindred European allies like
: France and Germany (not that they care to like us
: terribly). And as far as government, I challenge you
: to find a more fair or more decent nation, my
: compatriot.
Don't want to start another flame war, but being half-Bolivian I feel the irony strongly considering that the USA was the nation which trained the Latin AMerican dictators and placed them in power. Insult to injury is how in the West's eyes those dictstors are beleived to be Latin America's fault.
: Personally, I think all these govt/econ systems are crap
: compared to what I have in mind, but the only worse
: systems out there are ALL THE OTHER ONES.
Yep, that's the way it is. I personally came to the conclusion that modern democracy is not a good way to run a country (though the best method so far), leading to easily to self interest, corruption, and deception. I was pleaseantly surprised after coming to these thoughts some time ago by finding out that some of my personal heroes/role-models, such as Simon Bolivar and Tolkien thought the same, proving that I can't be completely wrong. ;) I would have added Forrest to that list, but then it would have sounded like I was coming on to YOU. :)
I myself have had some ideas for alternative systems (invariably reverting to decentralised governance, some of which could be described as anarchic to extents), but I'm not sure if they would work on a national scale. Maybe that's the way?
