How many of the dictionaries you consulted came out post-Dolly? Dictionaries attempt to indicate the current meanings of words; they don't make the meanings. Words mean whatever most of humanity (speaking that language) use them to mean. (Now you could argue that as a result of Chimera being published, millions of gamers have decided that "chimera" *does* mean whatever Kyrilla uses it to mean, and so that meaning is *now* valid, but you can't because I beat you to it. Mwahaha!) I could write and publish a billion copies of a dictionary that defines "watcher" as "small pile of dog excrement," but that wouldn't make it the primary meaning.
'Sides, as long as we're quoting dictionaries, the Oxford Dictionary itself (and it says it's the "new authority on the English language" on the cover, so grovel!) says nothing about illusions or delusions. The only meanings it gives for "chimera" are the monster, "hybrid," and "a bogey or horrible phantasm." Go ahead, say "my life has been an illusion, a bogey or horrible phantasm." Sounds stupid, doesn't it? DOESN'T IT?
