Well we do know that Avatara are wizards, archmages, mages, sorcerers, or whatever you want to call them who belong in the Avatara order. I believe, and am not sure if there is evidence in Myth, that some of the best magic users join the Avatara to learn more from fellow magic users and might have certain rules in the order as to what they allow themselves to do with their magic.
Of course we have almost no information on Avatara. We only use one Avatara in the whole Myth series (not including Myth 3) which was Alric. We see that all Berserks look alike and Warriors look alike and Dwarves... you get the idea but we see only one Avatara we would assume that they all look alike, but look at the Fallen Lords.... none of them look similar to another they were unique. Look at Shades some might assume that Shades are the Dark equal to Avatara since both use magic (Dispersal Dream) and are rare to see and they both have swords. But Shades were probably not all Avatara when alive. Or maybe they were, who really knows? No one... not even the people who created them and the rest of Myth.... you all know who I am talking about... Bungie. They are the only source about Myth, but they only created parts of a story and never the missing parts.
