In Response To: Re: Whoa, where did these people come from *NT* (Seraph)

: Hey!

: I'm going to post this before Gholsbane or Forrest see
: this and beat some sense in to me the hard way.

: I was surprised by their being new people.
: Not angry, or pissed off, or what not.
: I'm extremely sorry if I sounded like an ass.

: But the Tr7th is, we don't see that many new people so I
: was and still am wondering where they came from.

: *Prays that he hasn't actually offended anyone*

: I need to either learn how make myself clearer, or
: something.

: Seraph

Actually, my first post was two years ago: first post. At the time I was writing a story for MWC2k, prior to being morphed into the MWC2k organizer. I finished the story but never got to post it all, being too busy handling scheduling complaints and other crap. :)

Eh, no worries, I was being sarcastic in my reply. Heh? :)

Here's the situation: lots of people would like to see Myth 4 (or a fixed M3). But two things stand in the way. First is Take 2 owning the license. To ever make a Myth 4, a developer or independantly wealthy shmuck has to either A.) Buy the rights to Myth, which will weigh in at 1 to 3 million (best guess); or B.) convince Take 2 that Myth is worth investing in, and work a deal with them to publish the game, in which case they retain the license and just foot the publication bill (and development if they're feeling generous).

So a few weeks back PlayMyth announced that they had their hands on the Myth 3 code. That got me wondering why anyone would bother: after all, the only one that stands to benefit financially is Take 2. Why not just do Myth 4? So I talked to a few people and was given a bizzare picture of the situation, which I summarized above.

The thing of it is, I think Myth 4 should be done. TFL and SB weren't worth putting in the Library of Congress, but they were pretty damn good. On the other hand, Myth 3 was a hack job story-wise. The levels might have played well (I still don't know, I'm using Windows XP), but they lacked the fire of the previous titles.

I think I can put it back. So I've been working on a story. Hell if it'll ever turn into anything, but why not? I know the story better than MJ ever will, and I've read the Black Company through twice. Chancea re nothing will ever happen, and I'm one of many that has the same thought process. I, on the other hand, don't just think I can par Bungie. I know it. :)

Will it turn into anything? I don't know. Damn if I'm not getting excited about the possibilities.
