: I've heard this argument used time and time again. But
: those who use it are not seeing the whole picture.
: When Balor attacked, it was against the civilised
: nations. Thousands of well ordered men, with their own
: cultures, armies, etc. Well built cities, well ordered
: methods of defense, etc. He had to establish a niche
: for himself somewhereo n the map, carve it out, and
: slowly advance from there, destroying oh so slowly the
: powerful empires opposing him.
: Soulblighter attacked in a time of rebuilding. The
: population was way down from the fight against balor,
: so there was less to stand against him. Cities were
: still being rebuilt. Armies were not completely
: reorganised, people wanted a state of rest after the
: Great War. So he took advantage of the unpreparedness
: of the world, and attacked swiftly, defeating
: everything in his path with superior power.
I did take that into account but still look at 17 years Vs a few months. That is a massive difference. It still shows the ferocity and danger of the Myrkridia, for example:
Madrigal The Great war:defended by a rag tag army of almost defeated and demoralised warriors, the battle led by an Avatara who had seen those far superior to him destroyed by Shivers might, the city lasts 4 days against the dark and win.
madrigal,Soulblighter:The cities defence is headed by Alric probably one of he most powerful mages to have ever lived and yet the Myrkidian force defeats the city in an instant, though this is obviously because the city was evacuated but the fact that Alric evacuated the city shows how even he fears the Myrkridia, the fear and doubt of the Journal Writer is amplified by the inclusion of part of the Siege of Madrigal Music in the soundtrack for Gate of Storms.
the only way they finally defeat the Myrkridia is by getting two of the most powerful artifacts in History, the Ibis crown and Balmung.
