I know it's quite a long shot, but quite a lot of the right hand side of Maeldun can't be seen because the guy in the centre is in the way. It's perfectly possible that he has a sword there which we can't see because it's still in its scabbard which is concealed behind the centre guy (either Cu Roi or Murgen, I can't remember which). And hey, we know Mythworld has a much higher proportion of left-handed people than our own does. ;)
