Hmmm... this is my theory.
Mahir, Fetch, and the Spider Gods are all of the same world. Over thousands and thousands of years, each evolved ways of countering others, for example, the Mahir (who btw are not solid forms, like Fetch, but prehaps being shadow creatures Wyrd cannot detect them) are imune to the Fetch lightning. On the other hand, Fetch's are great for blasting spids.
Now Spiders are to Spider Gods as Mahir are to those Deamon guys. Prehaps the Fetches were enslaved by the Mahir race (who they are powerless against) and hence the Deamon granted Krylla fetches (also the Fetches are forced to act as Priestesses for the Deamon's). Did you notice all the spiders in "The Fiend"? ooo and they also attack the Deamon's forces, I think these are kind of spies or assassins to keep an eye on him, or mb find a way to kill him.
This also explains why Fetches are commonly chosen to go into the Tain, they are right at home there...
