In Response To: Mazzarin and Sinis (The Butcher)
People have found ways to connect ideas in Myth with other ideas in Gurps that seem to actually be contradictory. I have thought of a way to make the TFL definition of a Shade conform with the M2 definition.
It's really simple actually: there are 2 ways one can create a shade. One way is to reanimate a dead sorcerors corpse. The other, hinted at in the M2 flavor text, allows a shade to be made by a still-living volunteer or even possibly an unwilling captive.
Considering that, these are the ways I understand the event you asked about. Mazzarin, the still-living great hero, kills a still-living great villian by the name of Sinis. Presumably when the massive steel of the Nyx shrine crushed him to death. Mazzarin leaves. The Watcher comes along and makes a Shade from the remains of Sinis (using the first example of shadifying).
Or, the collapse didn't actually finish Sinis. The Watcher got to him and made him a shade while he was still clinging to life (using the second example).
A thought has just jumped into my mind. I haven't considered all the variables of it yet, but it sounds pretty good so far. Before I start, can someone confirm where exactly Alric was held in the Five Champions? Was this an area where trow ever lived? All I can remember is a reference to a desert in the east. The Barrier?
