: Well you have a point, but Heron Guard are not immortal.
: In Myth I and II we are never given information about
: Damas being a Heron Guard. Heron Guard are not
: immortal; they can be killed of course but they just
: have longer life expectancy than regular humans do.
: Look at this from the epilogue: "Soulblighter was
: not The Leveler. He may have been if he had survived
: into the next millennium – but, in his attempt to
: force the cycle, he perished and almost certainly will
: suffer at the hands of those who set it in motion. It
: is even conceivable that because of his actions the
: cycle has been broken, but we cannot be sure — at
: least not for another nine hundred and forty years.
: Nine Skull chuckled, saying that with a little luck, he
: may still be around to see."

: This sugguests that the Heron Guard are not immortal just
: live longer.

Sort of. But I'm sure I read some description of Heron Guards and Mandrake roots that said that mandrake roots only heal ordinary men, but create immortality in some unique individuals.

: Well this is what they say--
: Alric- “Ah, Sinis! I thought you died when Mazzarin
: collapsed the Shrine of Nyx upon you.”
: Sinis- “Indeed Alric, then I’ll wager that you thought
: you’d seen the last of me!”
: Alric- “I have seen the last of you.”

: As we can see Alric must have met Sinis in person because
: of "..I'll wager that you thought you'd seen the
: last of me!" We know Mazzarin was killed some
: time ago. And I doubt Sinis was a renagade Avatara
: just because Mazzarin killed him. Remember Shades are
: the bodies of long past sorcerers. So maybe Sinis was
: not an Avatara ever. And for all we know Mazzarin
: killed Sinis because at that time Mazzarin could have
: been dead already and have been a Shade.

: I am just placing some facts and ideas since no has
: mentioned these yet.

: -Pyro

Thanks, those are good facts. Also, the order of avataras could not have been created in the Wolf Age because Myrdred is said to be an avatara of the Wind Age. I read somewhere that shades are undead avataras, but it was not an official story source, and besides, avataras are only a single order among the many kinds of sorcerers. It makes sense that they would just be undead sorcerers of many types. (I suppose the uniformity of the shades can be explained by saying that they are sort of like more intelligent thrall. A great swordsman ressurected as a thrall would still wield an axe.) With the information before us, it's hard to make a decision about the Mazzarin/Sinis issue.
