Actually, GURPS first said that Nyx was the Trow's goddess. Scott Cambell used GURPS as "inspiration", which is why Myth 3 isn't even more innacurate: GURPS spells a lot of accurate information out in really plain, hard-to-misunderstand terms. Unfortunately he discarded the bits that he didn't like and seems to have missed, misinterpreted, or fudged lots of other bits, as well as parts from TFL and M2, to create the M3 story.

Again, GURPS is the original source for Mazzarin being the founder of the Avatara. And personally, I consider GURPS a much more accurate source than Myth III, because despite some of it's careless errors it was closely overlooked by the original Bungie team, and has lots of information in it that could only have been gotten from Bungie, which I know personally to be accurate.
