The flavour does speak of "the barest ribbons of flesh" covering his bones, suggesting that most of the victim's flesh is...elsewhere. And the TFL mahir have really big mouths with lots and lots of nasty pointy teeth that can bite through great rocks and trees. The "gnawed and broken" bit was added for the Myrk text, though.
