: Fascinating idea, Kal... they have a way to kill
: super-powerful beings, but one day a heron guard uses
: a root on a living but wounded person (either
: intentionally or accidently), and discover it heals
: them. Afterward, since super-powerful beings are
: pretty much by definition super-rare, and injuries
: happen all the time, they're almost always used to
: heal people (and only occasionally to kill a normal
: undead creature).
I still think that it was designed with healing in mind-only those that fine tuned its use also had such protection in mind, as a sort of last stand thing.
And i believe it was Welly that mentioned that the root doesnt kill soulblighter, merely causes him to flee-this is not entirely correct.
True, it didn't kill soulblighter, but it almost did. Watch his health as he is healed-it drops quite quickly. Mandrakes also incapacitate those they are used on, be they friend or foe. All soulblighters power could do against it was break the hold it had on him, therefore managing to flee from the journeyman.
I dont think that its use in such a way is widely known, in any respect. Otherwise we would have heard mention of it in game. But those who need to know of its strongest powers, do know of them, or at least suspect it.
It would be interesting to see the effect that such a root would have on a shade....i'm going to go see if there is a jman in seven gates or watever its called and find out :)
i'll let you know either way-if there isnt maybe someone could take a few minutes to script a simple map, with one jman and one shade just to find out.
I just think that theres more to these journeymen than meets the eye-theres so few of them around :)
