In Response To: Re: On the Purpose of the Leveller (Welly)

: I too have always believed that the Leveler is evil, a
: thing of darkness. Altough the theories that he is
: neutral, etc., do hold some ground, imo this is a god
: that wants nothing but darkness and death.

I see that view too.

: I differ here; the cycle is critical to maintain the
: Leveler's power. Without it, he is either dead or
: castrated of power.

Thats what I meant, The cycle ()the appearence of the comet and the eruption of Tharsis) controls teh Levellers power, but has nothing to do with the light/dark ages, that is a result of the LEveller's increased power.

: I differ here a but too. Imo if the cycle was broken by
: Soulblighter, the Leveler is either out of business or
: has one last chance. I like the one-last-chance idea.
: It would make another Myth game great: do or die, and
: this time the future will be set in stone of you win
: or not. You know, lose and there is no hope, win and
: the Myth universe will never have to deal with the
: darkness.

What I could never figure is WHY they said the cycle was broken because of SB, it more apparent that the cycle is broken if the Leveler is destroyed, maybe it is broken because, as according to Myth III Tharsis is destroyed, and the Dark Gods have no link to this world, when/if I write the book I'm going to have the cycle non-broken, So I can have a big 500 year war at the end running up to the Reckoning (the cool name I though of for the Completion of the 49 Dreams, by eitehr side.)

: The ideas you have on each of the Levelers are also
: interesting; just some of the TWA stuff I'm vague
: about.

Most of it, to keep the anti-Myth IIIers happy is based on Myth I and II, no GURPS. Except, of course, the stuff pertining directly to Myth III.

: I like that idea that he might have killed the dark gods
: by erupting Tharsis. If GURPS is right, he might have
: done some damage to Nyx perhaps too, or something,
: right?

And that might have been what broke the cycle.
