Fascinating idea, Kal... they have a way to kill super-powerful beings, but one day a heron guard uses a root on a living but wounded person (either intentionally or accidently), and discover it heals them. Afterward, since super-powerful beings are pretty much by definition super-rare, and injuries happen all the time, they're almost always used to heal people (and only occasionally to kill a normal undead creature).
