: I think it's probably a bit more sinister than that.
: Think: why was Soulblighter in Covenant, when the rest
: of his army was still East of Forest Heart at this
: time? And why didn't he have any of his troops with
: him?
: I belive the answer is as follows: he wasn't here to stop
: the Light. He was there purely as an observer, like
: Saruman's ravens in LOTR. But why? Bear in mind that
: Soulblighter is a) not a nice guy, and b) more than a
: bit unhinged. Back when he was Damas, Connacht charged
: him with hunting down (and destroying, although he
: seems to have "forgotten" that command in
: more than a few cases) all powerful artifacts. That
: includes the Total Codex. Yet perhaps some of Damas'
: thinking still lurked in Soulblighter's mind: after
: all, surely Connacht would never have intended for the
: Codex to fall into the hands of an evil necromancer
: (albeit one who has little jingly bells lining his
: tunic) like the Watcher.

As we know Soulblighter had the ability to transormed himself to crows, with this ability he could travel faster than anyone else and he could go were ever he wanted.(Just remember the intro in MYTH II,who went to King Alric's bendroom!)So I think that before he commanded his army to move, maybe he could examined their final destination.
There are 2 options:First,he knew that the Watcher was searching for the Codex,so he went there just to osberve.Second,as he was flying he saw the party and landed there. When he saw Mauriac and his party he decided to alert the Watcher, cause he couldn't handled alone.
