: I started to play again MYTH series(on legendary),with
: TFL of course be the first one.Well in the particular
: level we all know that Soulblighter is on a hill,
: watching us and when we're come near to him he flies
: away. Many people said that his behavior was strange!
: He should fight us!
: But then I ask, was it possible for him? My army has 17
: Warriors including Muriac, 2 Dwarves, a Journeyman and
: some Archers. Soulblighter was a tremendous fighter, a
: fighter that no ordinary man could win. But I think
: that it was imposible to destroy this army. After all
: he wasen't a magician like Balor or Shiver or the
: Deceiver. He knew martial arts and some black magic
: but above all he was a warrior.
: Now, The Watcher and the Undead Army were searhing for
: the party who had the Codex and they didn't know
: exactly which was the right path, so they placed
: severals guards to prevent their escape.Under the
: leadership of Mauriac(who lead them from the swamps)
: the party managed to escape, but they fall right on
: Soulblighter who happend to be alone. I think that he
: run to bring reinforments and to alert the Watcher.
: After a while a group of Wights escorted by a Mirmidon
: apeared but it was too late.
: So my opinion is that Soulblighter acted right, but the
: Dark were far away to catch Mauriac's party.
: Any thoughts are welcome.
: Din.
I think it's probably a bit more sinister than that. Think: why was Soulblighter in Covenant, when the rest of his army was still East of Forest Heart at this time? And why didn't he have any of his troops with him?
I belive the answer is as follows: he wasn't here to stop the Light. He was there purely as an observer, like Saruman's ravens in LOTR. But why? Bear in mind that Soulblighter is a) not a nice guy, and b) more than a bit unhinged. Back when he was Damas, Connacht charged him with hunting down (and destroying, although he seems to have "forgotten" that command in more than a few cases) all powerful artifacts. That includes the Total Codex. Yet perhaps some of Damas' thinking still lurked in Soulblighter's mind: after all, surely Connacht would never have intended for the Codex to fall into the hands of an evil necromancer (albeit one who has little jingly bells lining his tunic) like the Watcher.
