Like you said you would do anything to live. Why wouldn't The Mayor betray the Light? If you truely think you will die you might join the Dark. When I said cowardly I was refering to what is said about traitors in Myth TFL. It won't matter if you are a strong one or not the Dark will kill you unless you join them or you escape or disappear or whatever.
