In Response To: Re: (Infinity, Marathon and Durandal) (Forrest)
: I think the unimplemented (and incomplete) TFL Mahir, in
: vast hordes literally covering the ground to the
: horizon, would have made good Myrkridia. Shadow
: creatures who are impossible to kill and simply drain
: the very soul out of your units in a screaming frenzy,
: a pitch black blade swirling around with glowing red
: eyes and a huge, razor-fanged grin - they were scary.
: The only way to kill the TFL Mahir was to get a
: special talismand which forced them to be corporal
: and, while corporal, immobile - and even they they
: were DAMN scary looking. Way more than the
: floppy-eared Krids we know.
I know that Forrest will recall this beta Myth information, but I don't know about the rest of you. So let me explain on what Forrest eluded to in his post.
The original Myth had the Mahir as a creature that ravaged the body and devoured it before their eyes. As described in the Mahir flavor. The beta Myth made mention of a magical talismand that made the Mahir coropeal, and thus able to destroy.
I agree with Forrest that an enemy that you can't kill or see is much scarier and harder than anything else, no matter how feirce or large. For the only thing that every man fears is the unknown.
Other things listed that never made the final cut were a relationship between the ghols and a race called Vampyrs and between the fir'Bolg with the Griffins (see footnote below). They were cut for story reasons more than likely.
There were other lesser artifacts and races listed on the page, but I am happy to say that most of them made it into Myth. So the above describes what Forrest had said about the relationship with the Mahir and the magical talismand.
Chimera Spoiler
Now there seems to be some relation between Cartucke and the Mahir, but it is not related to in any way directly. Maybe they are both demon of some kind, or that one is a lesser of the greater, that is why the served Cartucke. All of this is pure speculation however because the story makes no mention of it whatsoever. At the very least I would have hoped to have what Cartucke was revealed to me at the end, or his relationship to the Mahir, etc. But that is why the story was so very flat.
End Chimera Spoiler
If you have more information about Chimera or other things that you would like to discuss, please list them here.
Sincerely,

Footnote: Hexographica (http://www.hexographica.com/myth/) has remodelled the Griffin and will be releasing it in their upcoming map entitled Warlords very soon™.
