: Is it possible that he could have come
: back weakened from long years of captivity, and had
: not yet returned to his previous state of power?

: I just dont think that the deceiver should have had such
: an easy time with the dude who killed mazzarin.
: Granted, mazzarin went through seven waves of thrall
: first...but I just cant see the watcher as being as
: strong as he was supposed to be before his captivity.

I believe that he was not as tough as he used to be, when he came back, too. It makes sense: he was so powerful in the olden days that Connacht couldn't kill him, he could only do the next best thing which was to trap him.

Then when he comes back, after so long, he had to gather his old abilities back. Because if he was as strong as he used to be, he could have nailed the Deceiver, and Alric I think.

Kind of like how after Balor was destroyed, the Fallen had to regain some of their powers. In the meantime some were killed and others like Myrdred were hunted down.

: And how big is a "wave of thrall", anyways?
: We usually see them in groups of like 20 or so...
