: Come to think of it, the Deceiver used them, too. I would
: suspect they were bound to their creator. When Balor
: died, the magics kepping them alive stopped, and that
: was it.

The Myrmidons left their northern kin or something like that according to flavour texts. They also seemed to have somehow agreed to being made immortal through sorcery. Must've been quite a long time ago. They're certainly not the same thing as soulless or thrall.

: I'd agree that the Mauls weren't the most impressive
: creatures, but the Mahir and a lot of the other new
: units are pretty original. As for the ghosts, I
: thought they were pretty creepy. The way the berserks
: would disappear then laugh, things would appear behind
: you, etc. In many reviews, this was said to be the
: best level of the game, and I'd have to agree.

You call those units new? We all know Mahir simply didn't make it for The Fallen Lords. Ghosts of already existing units isn't too bad, but it's not like it's any major feature.

: The horrors spoke of were a concrete thing, the Myrkridia
: rather than horror itself. Also, the codex doesn't
: seem to be above engaging in hyperbole. What we mainly
: learn is that Soulblighter doesn't have the Codex, as
: stated by the narrator.

This is a matter of good storytelling, not of advanced Myth story-interpreting. Just look at thrillers or horror movies that never really show what they're trying to scare you with. Tends to work better than trying to visualise it with plastic and tons of makeup.

The Summoner definetly seemed like something that also should've been left for the dead. One idea would that he was featured in Myth II, but that he was stopped before actually doing his dirty deeds. Now that would've been far better.

: That was probably symbolic, much like the hundred
: berserks that smashed the Watcher.

Symbolic? You mean a gameplay-related compromise?

: They didn't have use of very many of the knots at that
: time. The few they use apparently haven't been used
: any time recently. Once the light controls them all
: and the knowledge of how to use them becomes more
: common, of course they'll use them more.

They don't use more knots in Myth II than they do in The Fallen Lords. Madrigal-Covenant and then the one in Scales. There's another one in Rhi'anon on top of that...
