: The
: Call-down-big-green-bolts-of-lightning-capable-of-blasting-your-entire-army-to-bits
: dream and the Teleport-loads-of-severed-heads dream.
: Okay, maybe not the second one, but the first is a
: good deal more powerful than the other dreams in the
: arsenals of sorcerers we've seen, and hence I for one
: would class it as dream magic.
you sure? I don't think it's that powerful (as archmage level spells go). I mean Alric takes several blasts of it (yes I know it slaughters your berserks) and unless his health is really low he seems fine. And Alric to the best of our knowledge is not wearing an invisiable amulet of lightning protection.
: I don't know, I haven't played Chimera.
: The Watcher: Dream of Unlife?
: GURPS tells us that the Ghols have possession of the Crom
: Cruach idol, believed by some to be the runestone of
: the rotting mist dream. And if the Ghols can master
: one dream, who's to say they can't control a second
: (ie. the savage wind dream)
GURPS is not bungie. If the ghols have those powers we did not see them in either TFL or Soulblighter.
: Ghols may be barbaric, but they actually show a
: remarkable degree of cunning and intelligence. Like
: not rushing straight into the teeth of your bowfire
: like the supposedly more intelligent Dwarves do in
: Shadow of the Mountain.
: Heck, they can even use cannons.
the Shadow of the Mountain dwarves you refer to are mind controled. I don't think mind controled thralls (not in the myth sense, the slave sense) really are worried about their own safety, if they even notice they are in danger
There is a different between intelligence in the casting magic sense and avoiding charging straight into your bowmen sense.
I think the ghols probably have a really primitive level of intelligence in the first one, but they probably know that they will die if they simply charge your bowmen head on.
Using cannons is not really proof of intelligence since their accuracy (when we first see them) is disgustingly bad.
Which brings up a question which I think someone has already asked.
Why does Alric stay behind on the ship? He has no problem with leading his men personally at another time he's on the same level as you.
