Well my guess is that you finally looked at the comic and saw the picture of the fallen Trow (page 11) who had a helmet on that was similar to the Watcher's, am I right?

Anyway, the Watcher was not a giant, there is a picture of him on page 3 of the comic, his helmet is slightly different and if you remember from TFL he has man-sized even as a statue.
