To be honest I really don't know for sure.

But we can remove a significant section of his liver, that I *do* know. A distant relative of mine did that to give his infant (daughter, I believe) a new liver, hers was diseased. He was fine afterward with only a portion of his liver remaining. The baby should have made it, but other complications arose unfortunately.

Thankfully this story does have a happy ending, as they now have a son who is a healthy young baby at this time.
