: If someone was powerful and outside the living memory, he
: could be known about: in writings. I'm not sure if you
: understand the context of "living memory".
: Take this example: we know about Julius Caesar. He was
: one of the most powerful men. But he isn't in anyone's
: living memory. But we still know about him. Ergo
: people can be known to exist outside the living
: memory.
EVIDENTLY, THIS FORUM CAN'T EVEN AGREE ON HOW TO INTERPRET THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE. THAT MUST BE EITHER A REALLY GOOD SIGN, OR A REALLY BAD ONE. Did I leave the caps lock key on? Oops. How silly of me. Anyway, I think living memory is one thing, and evidently a lotta people DISAGREE with me. Oh, well. We're probably never going to figure out what the writer of that quote meant by it unless we ask him. And I have absolutely no idea why we would do that. It would actually clear one of these issues up.
: Biting comments? I checked it again, I'm pretty sure I
: don't say anything remotely offensive.
It was a joke. no anger whatsoever on my part was meant to be conveyed. You would have to do a lot more that write things to offend me. I am not so easily offended. It takes at LEAST two or three times of you looking at me "the wrong way" to offend me. (that's a joke, too, in case you're wondering)
: Also, is a Warlock an Avatar? No, he is not. But he is a
: sorceror.
Strictly speaking, a warlock is a man who practices witchcraft. Most fantasy people agree (I think) that if witchcraft and stuff like sorcery/magic/wizardry are separate, 'cuz it's just so much cooler that way.
Was the Watcher an Avatar? No, siree. But
: he's still a sorceror. So, I can't find any logical
: way to prove that a powerful sorceror can hold the
: title Avatar automatically then. Sorcerors and Avatara
: are not the same exact thing; Avatara is a term
: applied to certain particular sorcerors.
I'll explain THAT part of my theory sooner or later. But holding your breath MIGHT be inadvisable.

: PS: Btw I was always an avid fan of argumentum ad
: CAPSLOCK in my early days, too =)
I'm trying to show emphasis. I'm not fond of CAPS, I'm more fond of italics. Until such point as I figure out (or someone deigns to tell me) how to make italics here (i really don't think there is, cuz I've tried copy-paste from word processors), then I must color my language with the CAPSLOCK key, unfortunately. I say unfortunately, because, although I like shouting while writing at times, it's SO very unsightly.
Doom
Post Scriptum: has anybody ever read "A Prayer for Owen Meany"? Now THAT's Unsightly Text, if I've ever seen it.
