They didn't. They all died. The Summoner just went in, grabbed a bunch of skulls, said "abracadabra", and resurrected some Myrkridia. Wash, rinse, repeat, and you've got their whole race resurrected.

They are controllable when in good condition; presumably they are loyal to their masters, who would in turn be loyal to the Summoner for resurrecting them, who is loyal to Soulblighter. So they end up just working for Soulblighter. However, when Krids are very badly damaged and near death, they do go berserk and attack anything nearby, including other krids and dark units like Thrall, etc.
