In Response To: Re: Argumentum ad assertion allopecia (Welly)

: Personally I have to disagree a bit about that. For
: example: Firstly, the above quote irks me because it
: implies that we can't possibly prove him wrong because
: he, inherently, is right. That's his use of argumentum
: ad assertion allopecia, which I happen to find a bit
: insulting. But that's just m.o.

: This next quote can be classified as Argument from
: Authority, which is one of those 'if This-Guy says it,
: My-Idea MUST be true'. The idea is moot because the
: authority of Myth III is in question. Remember,
: there's a good number of us Asylumers who choose to
: either ignore TWA, or pretend it never happened.

: The latter quote wraps it up: an ad hominem argument. We
: couldn't possibly refute his theory, because he didn't
: give us lesser beings a chance to! Augh!

Okay, his points about irreputable evidence and the fact that he cannot be wrong seemed to me like him expressing how good his argument was. He's not saying, oh you're all wrong and I'm right, he's just trying to back up his case with evidence that he takes as gospel (TWA).

Just because we have decided that M3 is not a source of canon, it doesn't mean anyone who says otherwhise should be crucified. I mean, he may not have read all our previous discussions. By the sounds of things, he's new to the forum. You were a n00b here too once and I doubt you got everything right in your first post. Just be a little more acomodating and try to cope with his eccentricities for now.

Sorry if I sound patronising here but I know what it feels like to have your slightest mistake picked up on and your life made hell for it. And I'm not saying none of you know what it's like either.

Also, as the admin here, I want to try to make this place a little more tolerant and in my eye, Pum hasn't done anything inherently wrong yet.
