Yeah... skill at commanding men has absolutely nothing to do with personal fighting skill, which is what Alric would need to beat SB. Just look at Norse berserkers. They probably couldn't deploy troops in some excellent tactical position if they're lives depended on it. But alone on the battlefield, they would literally go berserk, and start hacking everything around them to pieces. Including any unoffending trees, shrubs, fences, rocks, ground, innocent bystanders, air, animals, and walls that were unfortunate enough to be in the general vicinity.
