TBC rip-offs

In Response To: Names of the Fallen (The Butcher)

: My theory about this is as follows: the prerelease notice
: with these two redundant names was based around
: long-ago brainstorming[....]

There have been many, numerous connections made between Myth and The Black Company novels. It is impossible to deny that the books did not influence the making of myth on a significant level.

Firstly, "Bonesplitter" is a direct, obvious rip-off of Bonegnasher, who was one of the original Ten Who Were Taken.

Also, "The Faceless Man" is a direct quote of a character straight from TBC... very unoriginal which means I'm glad that Bungie didn't stick with the name :)

So, there was little brainstorming made, long-ago, about those guys' names... the more TBC novels I read, the more tempted I am to move myth's unused pre-release info into the "canon heresy" category :P
