Deja-vu... ;) Damas is immortal by the Heron's healing powers, which you need to be good to recieve. Note how if you heal Soulblighter he is defeated. Once evil, he therefore can't be immortal that way, so he does the whole self-mutilation thing, which probably also allows him to turn into crows, so he can escape from life-threatening situations, which is handy if you don't want to die. ;)

: And yes, judging by Myth III, the head is Mjarin's.

Well, it's kinda explicit, even Mjarin's artwork looks just like The Head in M1.
