Persoanlly, I don't think it would be as simple as that. The Bre'Unor roam across the Ermine in warbands of about 20, and, assuming that they know the woods at least as well as the Fir'bolg do, trying to hunt them all down would be virtually impossible. Not to mention the fact that the Ermine isn't exactly terra cognita as far as the humans are concerned. There's vast swathes of the Ermine which probably haven't been trodden by either human or Fir'bolg for thousands of years, if ever, and who knows what creatures could lurk there besides the Bre'unor? And as for using a conventional army to hunt down highly skilled headhunters on their own ground... have you ever heard of Vietnam?

Secondly, genocide doesn't seem to be that big a deal to the Mythers. We don't like the idea of it because our governments have taught us that it is a Bad Thing, but to the Mythers, it's a way of life. Connaught committed genocide against the Myrkrydia. Connaught well nigh committed genocide against the Trow. The Trow committed genocide against an unspecified but probably shockingly large number of other races. The Dwarves and Ghols are awfully keen to commit genocide against each other, as are the Fir'bolg and Bre'unor... See what I'm getting at? Even most of the "good" races are would-be mass murderers, and genocide seems to be one of the main ways that a great hero really becomes one. People who start talking about "restructuring Bre'unor society" are liable to end up with a quiverful of arrows sticking in their backs.

As for noble ol' Alric; is this the same noble ol' Alric who willingly sent his entire army of skilled and loyal followers to certain death at the gates of Rhi'anon that we're talking about?
