I think Alric could undo it...maybe not easily but it's not likely that it will be the Barrier for all time.
so he is digging through sand? so? sand does not equal desert. although I agree that it will be very hard to find good crop land.
In any case, it would be interesting to see if Alric does rebuild the Cath Bruig what will happen in Myth IV to it
