: I just want to chime in here and emphasize Zan's message:
: SCHOOL IS VERY IMPORTANT! My grandparents were all
: rich (one still is) - one grandpa was an aerospace
: engineer, the other is the contractor who built half
: the housing in this county. Most of thier kids went to
: college at least partially, but never did anything
: with their educations, and most of them are
: middle-class now. My parents both skipped college, had
: me, and got married in their 20s, and both are dirt
: poor now.
: That means that *I* am poor now, and struggling my way
: through school (financially, not academically -
: getting good grades in school is easy for me) so I can
: have some hope of MAYBE getting back up to
: middle-class with the help of the inheritance from my
: one still-rich grandparent. I'm still out here looking
: for girls in my free time, but believe me, I am taking
: EVERY precaution to make sure I do *not* wind up like
: my parents, bringing a new life into the world before
: I can financially and emotionally support it (not to
: criticise you, Zan - I dunno the specifics of your
: life, but I know my parents were certainly not ready
: to have a kid).
: So yeah, we're getting way off tangent here, but to all
: you kids out there enjoying your summer break from
: school... please, for the love of god, go to college,
: get a grant if you need to (but beware of loans - my
: parents COULD have been lower-middle-class if it
: weren't for credit sucking all their earnings away),
: get a good education, get a good job making enough
: money to support yourself thrice over, and THEN settle
: down and have kids. That's not to say you have to
: neglect your social life along the way - you could
: even get married like Zan if you're sure that s/he's
: the one - but please, don't subject any more kids out
: there to my life.
Amazing wisdom.
I hope that some of the people here (myself included) will learn from this.
