Take 2 bought a share in Bungie before they were bought by Microsoft. In return for this share, Bungie gave Take 2 the rights to Myth. Take 2 got MJ to make Myth 3 and still own rights to making future installments and selling previous ones.
Bungie are now an games studio within Microsoft making games primarily for the XBox. They still have their own staff and work ethic but have a lot more money and marketing backing them.
