I wouldn't have thought so.
: 2) Who is Baeldun? My best guess is that he is a close
: adviser to Alric, or one of his top generals. But is
: he anything special (read: is he an avatara?)
Alric never reformed the order of the Avatara, but he might have been an archmage, or a nonmagical general at the very least.
: 3) Does anyone have information on where the Heron Guard
: would have been during the fall of Muirthemne, and why
: they were there instead defending their city and their
: Emperor?
If I remember correctly, 100 of them were sent as a taskforce to defend Bagrada from a force of Myrmidons when Muirthemne was attacked. All the others were defending the city at the time, and were massacred.

: get the faintist clue anywhere on what Durak is? If

Durak was probably one of the unnamed Avatara.
