: I think that the avatara are roughly equal to the fallen
: lords, on average. Mazzarin was probably the most
: powerful sorcerer, and(assuming) if the watcher had no
: thrallies and just challenged him face to face, both
: at the peak of their power, mazzarin would have mopped
: the floor with him. They never challenge the fallen
: lords directly because they are surrounded by the
: fallen! they first have to fight their way through the
: entire army of them before they get a shot at the
: leader. so they would have to challenge more than the
: fallen lord. With rabican, he was challenging shiver
: on her own playing field, the dream-world. She had the
: home-field advantage, and was very likely experienced
: in the art of dream-dueling, but with the advice given
: by the head, rabican kicked her ass and won, not
: because he cheated, but because he had power, and the
: power to exploit a weakness. Shades arent that tough,
: regular units kick the crap out of them, Avatara are
: tougher, regular units die

A shade's disposal dream is nasty enough, they don't need to be kick butt melee units to be a pain in the rear against regular units (given that you have very few usually).
What would a dream duel be anyway?
I assume it would be basically the two duelers casting spells at each other until one of them died, but you seem to have an arguement that indicatates there is something more beyond it...
