I'd put Alric (in both games) below The Deceiver and The Watcher. To defeat Soulblighter, he needed both Balmung AND the Ibis Crown, and to defeat Balor he needed one of the elbis(?) stones, all three of which gave him tremendous power. Since the power rested in the artifacts and not himself, I'd argue that indicates that he's pretty weak. Artifacts aside, Alric is a really good one-on-one fighter, but doesn't do too well against large groups of creatures (on legendary, which is the only thing that counts). His dreams are really good, but he only has three of them at a time (how does he replenish them, anyway?), so four medium-size groups of relatively strong units are going to give him problems.
