: guarding it as he came for it, or maybe over the ages

Hmm, 50 years would need a lot of erosion. Maybe the Deciever did want to see the Watcher die at the hands of the Light, but if I were him I'd prefer the satisfaction and gloat-worthiness of seeing his face when he knows that I am the one who will kill him.
