Llancarfan was its original name when it was founded by Tireces. He wanted to restore the city o former greatness so decided to use the old name which was not symbolic of destruction as Muirthemne was.
For more info on the origin of the name Muirthemne, check the Celtic Myth section of Relics. Llnacrafan was a abbey/monk stronghold in South Wales, I haven't read up much about it but Google might help.
