In Response To: Trow and Yer-Ks (DON'T ASK, I DON'T KNOW) (Doom)

: All right, I have a few questions: a) Who lived in the
: drowned kingdom of Yer-Ks and why is it drowned? Or
: does anybody know? (save 4 bungie)

The lizard/snake-like race of the Skrael. The Kingdom was drowned in a terrible magical catastophre, presumably because the Skrael were practicing magicks too powerful for them to control.

: b) What do the forest giants mean when they say that the
: Trow corrupted the soul of iron and how did they do
: it? Also, does this mean that there's an relationship
: between the Trow and iron (such as Trow:iron::Forest
: Giant:wood?) I haven't gotten TWA yet, but I keep
: hearing about Trow Iron Warriors - or something, and
: it's piqued my curiousity.

Aeons ago, a race called the Sil'ilhei attacked the Trow. Unable to defend themselves, they prayed to Nyx, who taught them the secrets of ironforging. However, after crushing the enemy with their new iron weapons, the Trow got a taste of power. Being fanatics they tore down their stone temples to Nyx and replaced them with iron ones. They then melted these downs to make even better ones, but eventually needed more iron. To do this they mercilesly used the advantage of their iron weapons to crush races far weaker than them just so they could steal their iron ore, corrupting their gift of iron, intended for defence, into an offensive weapon for an unfair advantage, in short turning iron, which had been "pure", into a weapon of destruction.

: c) What do the Trow have against Myrkridia? (besides the
: obvious that Trow are like the epitome of
: civilization, while Myrkridia are like barbaric
: beast-thingies)

Well, I'm guessing that maybe they fought. But this is more likely (though both may have happened), and can be backed up by the games & M1 comic: In Antero's Bestiary, set just after the end of the War against Balor, (they say "this war", but the Trow speak as if Balor is dead, (and how would a human get into Balor territory if he was alive?) so we can assume that he's recently died,) the Trow are mysteriously quiet about the Myrkridia, despite the fact that they are one of the most important races EVER in Myth. So this seems like a guilty silence. Now, in M3 we never see the Trow and Myrkridia fight side-by-side, because I doubt that the Trow would put up with that, BUT they do ally themselves with Moagim, master of the Myrkridia and the one who brought them into the world in the first place, and fought for him. After the Battle of the Valley of the Red Seal the Trow realise how they have unfairly used iron to crush everything in their way, so they abandon it and repent their evil ways as a race, becoming 'good', or at least neutral, as we see in Antero's Bestiary and Myth 2. SO now they feel guilty about aiding the Mrykridia with their extermination of humanity.

: d) Just how old of a race are the Forest Giants, anyway?
: Do they span back into time as ancient enemies of the
: Trow? And, if so, why is their religion the earth,
: when Nyx is worshipped by the Trow (Nyx's adversary
: [sort of] being Wyrd and all)??

Pretty damn old. :)

: Mb I'll get a strand of replies like for my axes post, mb
: not. Just don't find out where I live and mug me. I'm
: still in high school, you know.

Too late. :)
