Yeah, I agree that they were based on all types of kick-arse warriros, though obviously only North-European Berserker-like ones.
Like many old words, there's an alternate theory as to the origin of the word "Berserker", coming form the bear skins they wore from bears they killed. Nasty.
Drugs? And here I was thinking that they just got hyped up.:)
And that Comet was Halley's Comet - considered EXTREMELY scary, moreso than every other comet about. So very good link there.
