Still, the strategy guides never were that precise. ;) Personally, I think the Berserkers of Myth are something of an amalgam of lots of kickass warriors throughout history. For one thing, while the Scots and Picts did have frenzied warriors, they didn't calll them berserkers, and the Myther beard looks pretty Nordic to me. What you end up with is a Norse troop type with Norse names, Scottish accents, Scottish swords (which are still very similar to the kind of weapon their Norse counterparts would have used), warpaint which would be equally in place in Scotland and Norway, and Spartan flavour text (in TFL, at least).
As for the origins of the peoples of the British Isles, the Irish and Welsh are pretty much pure Celt, while Scotland is a mixture of Jute and Pict, and England is a big melting pot of Celt, Angle, Saxon, Roman, Norman and anything else you happen to feel like adding.
